Safe Beauty & Testing

For us, our customers’ health and safety come first. Our commitment to clean beauty means that we do not use any proven or suspected harmful and/or toxic ingredients, both natural and synthetic.

We do not use any of the prohibited ingredients banned from use in any cosmetic product in the European Union (see list here).
We are also intentionally free from parabens, preservatives, silicones, petrolatum, triethanolamine (TEA), polyethylene glycol (PEG), ethanol, phenoxyethanol, paraffin, paraffinum liquidum, talc.

We uphold the highest standards of product testing and scientific validation.

Our products have been dermatologically and, in case of our Lash Primer and Overnight Mask, ophthalmologically tested.
For select products, we go beyond standard testing by conducting in-vivo and in-vitro tests to assess their overall performance and the effectiveness of individual actives. This ensures that our claims are scientifically proven and reliable.

Hybrid Cosmetics

For us, makeup is not only meant to enhance one’s look or appearance. It is also and foremost an act of self-care aimed at improving one’s health and wellbeing.

For this reason, our makeup is infused with skincare. Our cosmetics are hybrid products that offer both cosmetic and skincare benefits, as they include ingredients commonly found in skincare products, like antioxidants, moisturizing agents, and other ingredients that nourish the skin.
This concept of “skincare-infused makeup” also means minimalism and multi-functionality, convenience and simplification of your beauty routine. Less is more!

+80% Naturality

We believe in the power of nature: all our products have at least 80% naturally derived ingredients. In line with ISO 16128 standard, we define naturally derived ingredients as those ingredients for which over 50% of the molecule comes from a natural source such as a plant, non-petroleum mineral, water, or any other natural origin. This includes ingredients processed through physical means (such as grinding, drying or distillation), fermentation reactions occurring in nature and leading to molecules which occur in nature, or other methods that don't involve deliberate chemical alterations.

We also believe that not all natural ingredients are beneficial for the skin, nor all synthetics are harmful. Our products blend science and nature through synthetic and natural formulations working in synergy for the highest safety and efficacy.

Made in Italy

Our formulations are 100% made in Italy, specifically in the northern region, which is recognized as the hub of the colour cosmetics industry. This strategic location ensures that our products embody the pinnacle of quality and continuous innovation, benefiting directly from the most cutting-edge research in the field. The "Made in Italy" label represents a long-standing tradition of excellence, combining meticulous craftsmanship, innovative techniques, and a keen aesthetic sense that is celebrated worldwide.

High-quality Manufacturing

Our cosmetics manufacturer, based in Italy, owns the following certifications:

ISO 9001: the International Standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS) that provides a set of guidelines and requirements for companies to follow to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
ISO 22716: the International Standard that sets the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements for the cosmetics industry, providing guidelines for the production, control, storage and shipping of cosmetic products.
ISO 14001: the International Standard for Environmental management systems (EMS) that provides a framework for companies to identify, manage and control their environmental impacts, and to continually improve their environmental performance.
Halal certification: verifies that a product as well as a manufacturing process is compliant with Islamic law. "Halal" means "permissible" or "lawful" in Arabic. It ensures products are free from prohibited substances and produced in a way that does not come into contact with them.

Transparency & Education

We are committed to be open and honest in all aspects of our business.

This includes providing accurate and complete information about our products, including the ingredients, the methods by which they are tested, and the packaging used.
We are also transparent about our policies, processes, and practices. This includes sharing information about our supply chain, our environmental impact, and any ethical considerations we take into account in the production of our products.

By being transparent and act with integrity, we aim to build trust and confidence with our customers and stakeholders, and to demonstrate our commitment to accountability and responsibility.

Inclusive Products

Our product portfolio is inclusive and suitable for everyone, regardless of ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, body size and ability.

We are committed to offer a wide range of colours and shades, catering for all skin tones. Being in our early stages, we recognized that our variety of colours is limited, yet carefully chosen to be suitable for most skin tones. For instance, our Lip and Cheek three shades have been designed to complement a wide range of skin tones: “Fiery Red” works well for both light and dark complexions, “Rubia Rose” is ideal for darker skin tones, and “Vintage Rose” is best suited for lighter skin tones.
If you don’t see the colour that you wish, please tell us: we will do our best to produce it.
Our products are safe and suitable for all skin types, including normal, dry, combination, oily and sensitive skin.

Equal Representation on Media

We are committed to promoting equal representation in all forms of media in our advertising and marketing efforts. Doing so, we aim to break down barriers and challenge traditional beauty standards and stereotypes, while also creating a more inclusive and diverse representation of beauty.

We are dedicated to creating a media landscape where people of all backgrounds feel seen and valued. This means representing a wide range of skin tones, facial features, body types, and body abilities in our advertising, and featuring a diverse group of models, influencers, and content creators in our campaigns. Our goal is to inspire all customers to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin, and to empower them to embrace their unique individuality.

Accessibility

In designing our packaging and website, we considered the needs of individuals with visual impairments and learning disabilities by using large fonts and adhering to accessibility standards. These standards include appropriate font sizes, colour contrast ratios, and providing alt text descriptions. Furthermore, each product page on our website features an audio guide in both English and Italian, accessible through a QR code on each product's paper packaging, to ensure our content is accessible to all.

We hate and apologize that our primary packaging may not be fully accessible for those with limb mobility challenges. Despite our efforts, finding a solution that is both sustainable and accessible, like packaging with a square shape, has proved challenging. We are actively working with our suppliers to prioritize accessibility in their designs and find inclusive solutions. We are committed to achieving 100% accessibility with square-shaped packaging.

Inclusivity in our Supply Chain

We are conscious in partnering with suppliers and manufacturers who share our values of diversity, equity, and inclusivity and have the highest ethical and social standards.

All our partners are certified with ISO 9001 and ISO 22716, guaranteeing the absence of forced or child labour and affirming that all workers operate in safe and healthy environments.

Transparency in reporting diversity metrics among our suppliers is currently limited, with most only disclosing gender diversity within their workforce. This partial visibility hampers our comprehensive understanding of diversity across all spectrums, including ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ability.

We recognize that we’re going towards a more equitable supply chain, yet we understand the journey is far from complete. We are actively encouraging our suppliers to broaden their diversity reporting to include various forms of diversity beyond gender. Additionally, we're asking them to scrutinize who holds positions at every level within their organizations, from the bottom to the top, where diversity often decreases significantly.

We take care of the Planet

Responsible Packaging

We believe in the power of circularity, and that’s why all our packages are 100% recyclable.

Our packages are sourced from environmentally and socially responsible suppliers. All our paper boxes and packages are 100% made in Italy, with the majority of our primary packaging also Italian-made. The only exception is our Lip and Cheek chubby packaging, sourced from China due to the unavailability of sustainable alternatives in Italy and Europe.

The materials we use for our packages are the ones we deem the most environmentally sound, without impacting the efficacy of the product. However, we are currently using plastic for our primary packaging, and we hate that. So far, we have been unable to identify suitable alternative materials for these types of products. However, this doesn't mean we're standing still. We are actively seeking out new solutions and encouraging our suppliers to innovate and explore non-plastic, more sustainable packaging options. Our ultimate goal is to adopt packaging that is 100% compostable.

Less is more: for our packaging, we cut all processes which we deem non necessary, such as dying, matting, embossing, sticking, in a broader effort to minimize our footprint.

Responsible Supply Chain

From production to shipping, our goal is to become “carbon neutral”. While we haven't started tracking our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions yet, we’re working on setting up systems to measure and report our GHG scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions – stay tuned!

We only partner with suppliers who are dedicated to addressing the climate crisis, ensuring all our suppliers hold ISO 14001 certification.

We have access to limited environmental data from our suppliers, as we primarily interact with our

cosmetics manufacturer and e-commerce paper packaging provider. These partners have shared their sustainability metrics with us. Both are dedicated to reducing their emissions by 5% annually. Impressively, our cosmetics manufacturer was awarded a Silver Medal by EcoVadis in 2023, positioning it among the top 15% of sustainable companies in Italy. This achievement is bolstered by their use of 10% renewable energy and their accomplishment of zero water waste.

We acknowledge that while we're moving in the right direction, there's still a considerable journey ahead, especially given the urgent need to tackle the climate crisis. We're pushing our suppliers to increase transparency and disclosure, set more ambitious goals, and implement tangible actions that yield real results in sustainability.

Our packaging suppliers are based in Italy and Asia:

Within Italy, we transport our packaging by road to minimize the environmental impact.
For long-distance logistics from Asia to Italy, we utilize maritime shipping, a more eco-friendly option compared to air freight, to reduce our carbon footprint. We are aware of the benefits of sourcing locally to reduce emissions further. As such, we are actively exploring more sustainable packaging options within Italy and Europe to lessen the environmental effects associated with shipping.

Packaging Materials

Specifically, the materials we use are:

1. 100% recycled and recyclable paper for all of our paper packaging. Our paper is FSC© (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, ensuring responsible forest management. In addition, our e-commerce paper boxes feature key eco-friendly qualities and certifications: they contain over 2% alkaline, meet the ISO 9706:2000 standard for longevity, have a neutral pH, comply with the EN71-3:2021 Toy Safety standards, adhere to the 94/62/EC directive for heavy metal content, and are acid-free.
2. 78% recycled R-PET for our Tea Mascara and Lash Primer and Overnight Mask, and 65% recycled R-PET for our Lip Oil and Balm. R-PET is made from recycled plastic water bottles and other PET containers. Being the recycling of this material a closed-loop process, R-PET can be recycled again and again.
3. 100% PE Green for the bottle of our Cream Highlighter, and 100% mono-material PP for its cap. PE Green is a biodegradable and compostable alternative to traditional petroleum-based plastic. It is made from sugarcane, a quickly renewable and CO2 absorbing resource. PE Green may be recycled in dedicated industrial composting facilities: we recommend checking with local authorities for specific recycling and disposal options.
4. Mono-material PP for our Lip and Cheek. Unfortunately, so far, we have not managed to find a greener alternative to PP for our Lip and Cheek chubby. Although it does not come from recycled plastic, this material is 100% recyclable. Please contact us if you know more sustainable alternatives for this package: we would love to learn more!

Responsible Sourcing

We ensure full traceability of all our raw materials, ensuring we understand the origin and journey of our materials, guaranteeing they meet our high ethical and environmental standards (as per ISO and FSC© requirements).

The procurement of raw materials for our cosmetic products is entirely managed by our cosmetics manufacturer, who sources ingredients globally from select suppliers that are ISO 9001, ISO 22716 and ISO 14001 certified. Our manufacturer places a high priority on choosing ingredients that are predominantly of natural origin, favouring those that are upcycled or derived from sustainable practices, and free from microplastics.

We are committed to the principles of the circular economy and aim for zero waste by incorporating upcycled ingredients into our products. Upcycled ingredients are those that are reused from discarded materials or byproducts that would otherwise be waste. Using these ingredients helps reduce environmental impact by extending the lifecycle of resources and minimizing waste.

For our e-commerce paper packaging, the sourcing of raw materials is directly managed by our paper packaging supplier. The primary material, pulp, used in our paper comes exclusively from suppliers certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC©).
